MELBOURNE - Aug 15/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers with local hail on and south of the ranges, falling as snow above 900 metres. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Cold with fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong to locally gale force on the exposed coast. Forecast for TuesdayMorning frost patches inland. Isolated showers near the coast and across Gippsland, contracting eastwards and clearing towards evening. A mainly sunny day. Cool to cold with a light to moderate west to southwesterly wind tending northerly from the west. Forecast for WednesdayCloudy with rain areas extending eastwards across the state although only patchy light rain developing in Gippsland. Snow on higher Alpine peaks. Cool with northwest to northerly winds strengthening to reach gale force about most southern and elevated areas. Forecast for ThursdayScattered showers, mostly over southern and mountain areas and snowfalls lowering from Alpine peaks in the morning to 800 metres by the evening.
