Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 13/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time:
Strong Wind Warning for NSW coastal waters between Wooli and Montague
Island. Flood Warning for the Belubula, Paroo, Bell, Castlereagh and
MacIntyre Rivers.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A low pressure system and trough over the Tasman are moving east. A
High is centred over northern New South Wales with a ridge towards
Tasmania. This will weaken and contract northeastwards on Saturday as
another low moves into the Bight with a trough over South Australia
This trough will pass through New South Wales  later Saturday and
Sunday bringing further showers. Showers are likely to linger over
the southern inland and over the ranges on Monday as another cold
front slides along the southern border.
Forecast for Friday evening
Partly cloudy along the western slopes of the ranges. Mostly clear
remainder. Light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh along the
coast but easing. Light to moderate northwest winds in the west.
Dangerous surf conditions, hazardous for coastal activities such as
swimming, surfing and rock fishing.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers developing over the southern inland and far west.
Mostly sunny elsewhere. Early frost and fog patches in the east.
North to northwesterly winds, freshening in the west. Dangerous surf
conditions in the north, hazardous for coastal activities such as
swimming, surfing and rock fishing, easing.
Forecast for Sunday
Mostly sunny in the northwest and along most of the coast. Isolated
showers remainder tending scattered about the western slopes of the
southern and central ranges. Snow on the Alps. Northwest winds
turning gusty west to southwesterly.
Forecast for Monday
Mostly sunny in the northwest and along the coast, partly cloudy
remainder with isolated showers or drizzle along the western slopes
of the ranges and over the southern inland. West to southwest winds.
Forecast for Tuesday
Early fog and frost patches. Mostly sunny. Light winds.
