Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 12/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time:
NSW Severe Weather Warning for Locally Damaging Winds. Gale warning
for NSW coastal waters south of Smoky Cape. Strong Wind Warning north
of Smoky Cape and for the Sydney Closed Waters.  Sheep Graziers
warning. Flood Warning for the Molong, Bell, Paroo and Namoi,
Castlereagh Rivers.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A low pressure system has moved to the east of Tasmania and will move
further east over the Tasman on Friday and Saturday. Strong gusty
west to southwest winds  and showers over the eastern half will
result over New South Wales today, easing tomorrow  as a high over
central  Australia will become centred over Queensland with a ridge
over New South Wales.  This high  will weaken and contract
northeastwards on Saturday as another low moves into the Bight with a
trough over South Australia This trough will pass through New South
Wales  later Saturday and Sunday bringing further showers. Showers
are likely to linger over the southern inland and over the ranges on
Monday as another cold front slides along the southern border.
Forecast for Thursday evening
Partly cloudy in the west and on the north coast and adjacent ranges.
Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of
the ranges and in the far southeast. Snow showers on the Alps. Fresh
to strong and gusty west to southwesterly winds, reaching gale force
at times, particularly about higher ground.
Forecast for Friday
Isolated clearing showers or drizzle on the western slopes of the
ranges and in the far southeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
Southwesterly winds easing and turning northwest in the west.
Forecast for Saturday
Isolated showers developing in the southern inland later in the
afternoon and evening. Mostly sunny elsewhere. North to northwesterly
winds freshening in the west.
Forecast for Sunday
Mostly sunny in the northwest, partly cloudy along the coast.
Isolated showers elsewhere. West to northwest winds turning
southwesterly from the west.
Forecast for Monday
Mostly sunny in the northwest and along the coast, partly cloudy
remainder with isolated showers or drizzle along the ranges  and
southern slopes. West to southwest winds.
