MELBOURNE - Aug 11/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Warning Summary at issue time: NSW Severe Weather Warning for Locally Damaging Winds in the Northern Tablelands, west and south of Mid North Coast, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, Central Tablelands, Hunter, Lower Western, Riverina districts. Gale warning for NSW coastal waters south of Smoky Cape. Strong Wind Warning for the remainder of NSW coastal waters. Sheep Graziers warning for the southern and central inland. Flood Warning for the Bell, Paroo and Namoi, Castlereagh and Gwidir Rivers. For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/weather/nsw Current Weather Situation and Future Developments: A low pressure system in the Bass Strait. An upper cold pool over the inland provides the instability for showers in the east. Showers will linger tomorrow with strong to gale force winds as the low remains slow moving in the southern Tasman Sea. A weak high pressure ridge will develop throughout the state on Friday with most of the state becoming dry. A cold front is expected to approach the western border of the state on Saturday and rapidly move across on Sunday triggering shower activity to re-develop over the southern and central districts. Forecast for Thursday Partly cloudy in the west and on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the western slopes of the ranges and in the far southeast. Snow showers on the Alps. Fresh to strong and gusty west to southwesterly winds, reaching gale force at times in the western, central and northeastern parts. Forecast for Friday Isolated clearing showers on the western slopes of the ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to southwest winds. Forecast for Saturday Isolated showers developing in the southern inland later in the afternoon and evening. Mostly sunny elsewhere. North to northwesterly winds freshening in the west. Forecast for Sunday Partly cloudy in the northwest and northeast. Isolated showers elsewhere. Westerly winds turning southwesterly from the west.
