Thursday.
2. A strong wind warning has been issued for coastal waters south from Sandy
Cape for Thursday.

STATE FORECAST
for Wednesday night and Thursday
Fine over much of the state. Isolated showers continuing over far northern Cape
York Peninsula and through Torres Strait. Becoming cloudy about the southern
Darling Downs with some drizzle and sleet developing overnight and on Thursday.
Moderate to fresh SW to SE winds over the state becoming very gusty at times
about the south-east corner during Thursday.
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Friday: The high will move eastwards across southern Queensland. So the strong
and gusty SW winds about the south-east corner will ease early and then ease
further during the day. The cloud and drizzle with sleet about the southern
Darling Downs will also ease early with the cloud then dissipating during the
rest of the morning. Isolated showers will continue about far northern Cape York
Peninsula and through Torres Strait where the SE trade flow will remain moist.
Fine conditions will occur elsewhere over the state. Morning frosts will be
widespread over southern and central areas of the state and also over the
Atherton Tablelands.
Saturday: A frontal system will across the south-west and west of the state
with gusty SW winds following as the low to the south of the continent deepens.
Some high cloud will accompany the front. Only a little or no rain will occur
with the cloud at best as the low levels of the atmosphere will be dry. The high
will move offshore and slowly weaken. Winds across southern Qld before the front
will shift warmer N'ly and freshen late in the day. Morning frosts will again be
widespread over southern and central areas of the state and also over the
Atherton Tablelands. Isolated showers will continue about far northern Cape York
Peninsula and through Torres Strait where the SE trade flow will remain moist.
Sunday: The frontal system will move off the southern and central coasts during
the morning thus allowing cooler gusty SW to SE winds to spread across much of
the state. The SW winds about the south-east corner of the state will be very
gusty and strong. The remnants of the upper cloud band will pass seawards off
the far southern coast during the morning and will not produce any
precipitation. However, low cloud will develop about the slopes of the southern
Downs and may produce some drizzle about the Granite Belt. Isolated stream
showers will continue over far northern Cape York Peninsula and through Torres
Strait. Conditions will be fine elsewhere across the state.
Outlook for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: A new high pressure system will move
across far southern Qld and will maintain fine conditions over most areas of the
state. Isolated showers will continue through Torres Strait and over far
northern Cape York Peninsula. The cloud with some drizzle will dissipate about
the southern Darling Downs during Monday morning. Frosts will again become
widespread over southern and central areas of the state.
