Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 30/10 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time:
Flood Warning for Castlereagh River and Peel River. Flood Watch for the Namoi,
and Lower Gwydir Valleys. Strong Wind Warning for coastal waters south of Seal
Rocks.

Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A low pressure trough and associated rain band are moving through the
northeastern New South Wales. The trough will move over the Tasman Sea later
today and rain will clear. During Sunday a cold front preceded by a light patchy
rain and gusty winds will move through the south of the state. A high pressure
system near the Bight will a ridge behind the front bringing mostly fine
conditions on Tuesday. Another cold front is expected to move through west and
southeast Wednesday.
Forecast for Saturday
Rain areas in the northeast contracting to the coast and clearing. Isolated
showers remaining about the ranges and western slopes with snow showers on the
alpine peaks. Northwest to southwesterly winds, becoming fresh  and gusty in the
southeast.
Forecast for Sunday
Isolated showers on the western slopes of the central and southern ranges and in
Riverina, possibly extending to the central and south coasts in the evening.
Showers tending scattered on the western slopes of southern ranges with possible
thunderstorms and snow developing above 900 metres later. Northwest to
southwesterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty in the west and southeast with
blizzards developing on the Alps.
Forecast for Monday
Isolated showers in southern and central parts. Showers tending scattered on the
western slopes of the southern ranges with early snow showers above 900 metre.
Fresh and gusty southwest winds easing later.
Forecast for Tuesday
Isolated showers around Port Stephens and the western slopes of the southern
ranges. Snow showers on the Alps. South to southwest winds.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday
