Peas Finish on Strong Note

VANCOUVER - Jul 17/10 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading on a strong note against growing concerns about the condition of this year's field pea crop.

Traders attending last week's Canadian Special Crops Association annual meeting in Saskatoon generally felt that while pea crops look good, they seem to be suffering more than lentils from this year's moister conditions.

Judging from the condition of all crops in Sakatchewan, it may be the case that at least 55% of this year's field pea crop started the week in good condition; while 15% was in excellent condition, 22% fair and 7% poor to very poor.
