U.S. Flax Seedings Soar
WASHINGTON - Jun 30/10 - SNS --Area planted to flaxseed in the United States this year is estimated at 410,000 acres, up 93,000 acres from the previous crop year, according to seeded area estimates released by the USDA today.
Area for harvest is forecast at 405,000 acres, up 91,000 acres from the previous year. In North Dakota, the largest flaxseed-producing State, growers planted 390,000 acres in 2010, up 95,000 acres from last year.
