Voluntary Sunflower Price Agreement in Russia

WASHINGTON - Jun 29/10 - SNS -- Faced with prospects for a bumper sunflower seed crop this year, the Russian Grain Union and the Union of Vegetable Oil Producers agreed that the prices of sunflowerseed in 2010-11 shall not be less than 9,000 rubles (U.S.$300) per metric ton (MT), reports the U.S. agricultural attache for the country.

Russian Agricultural Minister Yelena Skrynnik was present at the signing of the voluntary agreement, although the document does not mention Ministry of Agriculture. However it is expected that the Ministry of Agriculture will use its influence to ensure all parties respect the agreement.
