News Filled Week Supports Birdseeds

VANCOUVER - Jun 18/10 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were generally firmer during the past week against the realization canaryseed production in Canada will be much smaller than expected.

Some farmers in that country made a last minute dash to seed the crop during the past week, but that was questioned by some market participants because of the high risk there will not be a crop.

However, that seems to be part of the strategy of some growers to seed anything before the crop insurance deadline because potential insurance returns from a crop failure are higher than from unseeded land.
