Peas Supported By Weather Worries

VANCOUVER - Jun 18/10 - SNS -- Ongoing seeding and development delays in western Canada lent some support to field pea markets during the past week.

Markets may also be anticipating a reduction in actual and prospective seeded area in Statistics Canada's June 23 seeded area estimate.

There is also some fear that a portion of the peas which are on farms in western Canada may have been damaged by localized flooding. Above normal rainfall levels could also be a problem for farmers who have not kept their bins in good repair.
