Tension Building in Canaryseed

VANCOUVER - Jun 5/10 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading with increased tension in Canada on account of the slow pace of seeding this year' crop.

Canaryseed is normally one of the last crops seeded and harvested, but an unusually high proportion of the intended acreage has not been planted.

Unfortunately, much of that is in areas where ongoing rainfall is keeping fields too wet for heavy machinery. Crop reporters said some areas are so wet, millimeters feel like inches.
