Light Trading Week for Lentils

VANCOUVER - May 21/10 - SNS -- The world's lentil markets finished a week of relatively light trading in both spot and new crop shipping positions with few changes.

Spot markets in the United States were unaffected by the latest USDA PL-480- food aid tender invitation, which saw government buyers request offers of just 290 metric tons (MT) of product for shipment in July.

The quantity of lentils bought for shipment as food aid so far this marketing year in the United States is running well behind last season, with total purchase down almost 40% at 26,790 MT.
