Weekly Canadian Crush Advances

WINNIPEG - Apr 9/10 -- STAT -- The Canadian Oilseed Processors Association (COPA) reports weekly crush rose during the week ending March 31.

The numbers, as reported to the association by member firms, show canola crush rose 1.9% to 108,829 metric tons (MT). Soybean crush rose 0.1% to 24,750 MT.

Crush so far during the 2009-10 marketing year totals 2,818,573 MT of canola, down about 50,000 MT from the 2,768,279 MT crushed by the same time last season. Soybeans crush so far totals 880,523 MT, down about 156 MT from the 880,679 MT crushed during the same period last season.

Crush capacity utilization for the week was 87.7% for canola and 78.7% so far this season. Soybean crush capacity utilization was 55.2% for the week and 60.1% so far this season.
