Few Changes in Birdseeds
VANCOUVER - Apr 2/10 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were little changed during the past week in seasonally light trading interest.
Markets were not surprised by the USDA seeding intentions estimates, which looked for an overall increase in sunflower area this year.
The biggest change is in expected confectionary sunflower plantings, with farmers saying they want to boost area 41% to 467,000 acres, while only increasing oil-type sunflower plantings 1% to 1.71 million acres.
