Lentils Regain Firm Tone

VANCOUVER - Apr 2/10 - SNS -- International lentil markets maintained their firm tone through the past week, helped by ongoing demand from India and Algeria.

Improving demand comes at a moment when North American processors and growers are more focussed on securing planting seed, adding to the upward momentum on export markets.

Market saw the seeding intentions estimates form the USDA as confirmation of an upward trend in world acreage. farmers in the United States intend to boost lentil area 23.5% to 510,000 acres. At this moment, Canadian lentil area is expected to jump 33.3% to 3.2 million acres. Canada's seeding intentions estimates will be released on April 26.
