More Beans in SAF

VANCOUVER - Mar 24/10 - SNS -- This year's dry edible bean harvest in South Africa should be larger than initially expected because of a higher seeded area than first thought, according to the latest summer crop production estimates from the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

Seeded area is now pegged at 48,600 hectares, which is 4.29% more than the 46,600 hectares planted for the previous forecast.

The expected yield is 1,260 kilograms per hectare as against 1,300 kilograms per hectare of the previous forecast.
