Myanmar Pulse Exports Slow Down

VANCOUVER - Mar 4/10 - SNS -- Pulse exports from Myanmar plunged 66% below year earlier levels in January for the third consecutive month in which exports were down from year earlier levels on account of reduced demand from India.

Matpe accounted for 62% of total exports, followed by Toor Whole (Pigeon pea) 16% and Mung bean 15%. In January, India remained the largest buyer accounting for 87% of total exports. Japan, a regular market for Burmese Butter beans (Lima beans,) imported a small quantity in January.
