WASHINGTON - Feb 26/10 - SNS -- Shelled Edible Grade Season to Date Utilization Up 3% from Last Year Peanut Stocks in Commercial Storage Totaled 3.60 Billion Pounds
Peanut stocks commercial storage on January 31, 2010 came in at 3.60 billion pounds of equivalent farmer stock, compared to 4.07 billion pounds a year ago, reveals today's USDA update on the sector.
This total includes 2.78 billion pounds of actual farmer stock.
Shelled peanuts on hand totalled 772 million pounds of farmer stock equivalent. Roasting stock totalled 47.7 million pounds.
Shelled peanut stocks totalled 580 million pounds of which 560 million pounds were edible grades and 20.1 million pounds were oil stocks. Edible grade stocks by type included 132 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 408 million pounds of Runners, and 20.7 million pounds of Spanish.
