Reduced Bean Harvest in S. AfricaVANCOUVER - Feb 23/10 - SNS -- Dry edible bean production in South Africa is expected to be down over last year as a higher seeded area is offset by lower projected yields, according to the first summer crop production estimates from the South Africa Grain Information Service (SAGIS). Actual seeded area is now pegged at 46,600 hectares, up from 43,800 last year. The expected yield is 1,300 kilograms per hectare as against 1,530 kilograms per hectare of the previous season.
