Few Changes in ChickpeasVANCOUVER - Jan 15/10 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were little changed in light trading during the past week. Markets were pleased to see chickpea inventories in the United States fall below year earlier levels. The USDA released its December 1 stocks in all positions estimates last week, pegging total chickpea inventory at 87.5 million pounds, down from 106.3 million pounds the previous year. Breaking the data out by class, the USDA said inventories of large caliber chickpeas dropped from 97.2 to 57.2 million pounds; while inventories of small caliber chickpeas almost doubled from 15.3 to 30.3 million pounds.
