Uncertainty In Bean Markets

VANCOUVER - Jan 8/10 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a mixed note as markets tried to find their way through contradictory news from Brazil, China and Argentina.

North American markets were mostly steady through the holiday period, with the spot market index for U.S. origin dry edible beans finishing the week unchanged at 1185. The grower index finished the week 15 points lower at 1072.

Both Argentina and Brazil and suffering through heavy rainfall, but while traders see this as a potential worry for Brazil, they wonder if it could not result in more edible bean area than expected in Argentina.
