Easier Tone for World Chickpeas

VANCOUVER - Feb 27/09 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were generally easier against continued availability of new crop supplies from India and improved supply from Mexico.

Exporters in India continue to lead markets lower as they work to sell what the country is growing during its winter or rabi season. There was a general increase in chickpeas plantings this winter and a specific increase in land in dollar or kabuli type chickpeas, which are mainly grown for export.
