Continued Weakness On World Beans

VANCOUVER - Dec 19/08 - SNS -- The world's dry edible bean markets are entering the Christmas and New Year's holiday period on a generally weaker note, though North American markets remain strong on a regionally tight supplies.

The U.S. grower index finished the week up 1.0 points at 1016, versus 990 at this time last year. The grower share of the weighted average dealer price for beans now stands at 79.5%, up 0.1 points from last week and compared to 82.4% at this time last year.

The U.S. spot market index for dry edible bean finished the week at 1144, unchanged from the previous week and compared to 1075 at this time last year.
