Weekly Canadian Crush Drops

WINNIPEG - Nov 21/08 -- STAT -- The Canadian Oilseed Processors Association (COPA) reports weekly crush in that country totalled 83,001 metric tons (MT) of canola and 24,395 of soybeans during the week ending November 19.

The numbers, as reported to the association by member firms, show canola crush rose 0.9%, for a second week over week increase. Soybean crush fell 23.6%, offsetting the previous week's advance.

Crush so far during the 2008-09 marketing year totals 1,229,169 MT of canola, up about 34,000 MT from the 1,195,393 MT crushed by the same time last season. Soybeans crush so far totals 376,706 MT, down about 86,000 MT from the 462,339 MT crushed during the same period last season.

Crush capacity utilization for the week was 93.5% for canola and 92.7% so far this season. Soybean crush capacity utilization was 54.5% for the week and 56.3% so far this season.
