Birdseeds Little Changed on Week

VANCOUVER - Mar 28/08 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading unchanged to firmer, helped by a midweek rally in Chicago grains and oilseeds.

The U.S.-based National Sunflower Association notes, "New crop sunflower prices lost some ground when the market broke to the down side but have been recovering this week as the market started another rally. Competing crop values are the key as all crops are fighting for acres this year.

"Confection new crop offerings are in the vicinity of $37.50 at some locations and acres are still needed. Overall, 2008 sunflower prices will continue to be tied to a number of factors including the potential returns from other crops."
