Herbicide Conflict Advisory

GREENSBORO - May 30/02 - SNS -- Syngenta Crop Protection is warning growers and custom applicators not to apply post-emergence Callisto herbicide on corn following use of Counter CR insecticide and Lorsban 15G insecticide.

"We are advising our field organization as well as customers and channel partners not to apply Callisto where Counter CR or Lorsban 15G were applied," explained Jeff Tweedy, technical brand manager for Syngenta. "Syngenta research continues to support this position, which is clearly spelled out on the Callisto label."

The label for Callisto also restricts foliar tank mixture applications of organophosphate or carbamate insecticides. Syngenta recommends a minimum of seven days prior to or following a post-emergence application of Callisto.

Syngenta says Callisto controls most of the toughest broadleaf weeds and large crabgrass in corn, including weeds resistant to ALS-inhibiting, triazine or glyphosate herbicides. It can be applied from pre-emergence up to 30-inch corn.

"Best results have been recorded where Callisto is applied early post-emergence (spike to five-inch corn) at 3.0 ounces per acre on weeds one to five inches tall," the company said.
