CGC Outlines Crops Covered by SecurityWINNIPEG - May 15.02 - SNS -- The Canadian Grain Commission responded to growing confusion among western Canadian agricultural producers and some processors about the scope of coverage offered by the security licensed grain dealers place with the federal government agency. Contrary to the belief of some producers, not all crops are covered by the security provisions of the act and growers are completely reliant on the willingness and capacity of their buyers to pay for any merchandise delivered. Crops specifically excluded are: canaryseed, forage seed, grass seed, hemp seed and millet. Crops covered by bonds posted with the grain commission include: barley, dry edible beans, buckwheat, canola, chickpeas, corn, fababeans, flaxseed, lentils, mixed grain, mustard seed, oats, field peas (including feed peas), rapeseed, rye, safflower seed, solin, soybeans, sunflower seed. triticale, and wheat.
