Canada's Weekly Exports 403,700 MT

WINNIPEG - May 10/02 - STAT -- Export clearances of all grains and oilseeds shipped from Canada total 16,072,500 metric tons (MT) so far this marketing year down 3,275,600 MT from the 19,348,100 moved last year.

The latest report from the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) summarized weekly product movement through licensed primary and terminal elevator facilities for the week ending May 5.

Grower deliveries during the week included 159,200 MT wheat; 60,500 MT durum; 10,300 MT oats; 64,000 MT barley; 400 MT rye; 6,700 MT flax; 77,100 MT canola; and 300 MT corn.

The CGC pegged total exports during the week at 403,700 MT . On the grain side this included including 222,900 MT wheat; 81,200 MT durum; 3,800 MT oats; 9,400 MT barley; no rye; and 3,200 MT corn.

Exports so far during the 2001-02 season total 9,456,500 MT wheat down 351,600 from 9,808,100 MT last year and 2,550,100 MT durum down 6,400 from 2,556,500 MT last year.

Coarse grain export clearances so far this season total 760,300 MT oats down 141,800 from 902,100 MT last year; 802,800 MT barley down 773,800 from 1,576,600 MT last year; 8,800 MT rye down 33,000 from 41,800 MT last year; and 56,300 MT corn up 8,500 from 47,800 MT last year.

Oilseed exports now total 1,989,000 MT canola down 1,994,600 from 3,983,600 MT last year and 448,700 MT flax up 17,100 from 431,600 MT last year.

In addition, Statistics Canada indicates exports to the United States: 282 100 (271 900)  MT of Oats, 39 800 (31 200) MT of Rye, 8 000 (11 500) MT of Flaxseed, 16 300 (9 300) MT of Canola and 100 600 (43 600) MT of Corn between August 2001 and January 2002. Year ago figures are shown in brackets.

Shipments of oilseeds to domestic customers totalled 2,100 MT flax and 42,100 MT canola during the week. This lifted season to date totals to 448,700 MT flax up 17,100 from 431,600 MT last year; and 1,927,900 MT canola down 441,100 from 2,369,000 MT last year.

Domestic grain shipments included 74,700 MT wheat; 9,200 MT durum; and 3,800 MT oats. So far this year domestic buyers have taken 2,728,500 MT wheat up 251,000 from 2,477,500 MT last year; 688,600 MT durum up 145,900 from 542,700 MT last year; and 460,700 MT oats up 51,200 from 409,500 MT last year.

Other grains sales to domestic buyers include 53,600 MT barley; no rye; and 3,000 MT corn. Domestic purchases for the 2001-02 marketing year now total: 1,818,200 MT barley down 567,400 from 2,385,600 MT last year; 14,200 MT rye down 200 from 14,400 MT last year; and 76,000 MT corn down 1,600 from 77,600 MT last year.
