Weekly Canola Crush Rebounds

WINNIPEG - May 10/02 -- STAT -- The Canadian Oilseed Processors Association (COPA) reports weekly crush in that country totalled 42,768 metric tons (MT) of canola and 30,544 MT of soybeans during the week ending May 8.

The numbers, as reported to the association by member firms, jumped 41.5% from last week's level for canola, while dropped 6.1% on the week for soybean.

This was the second weekly drop for soybean crush activity, while canola crush activity has been volatile.

So far this marketing year, 1,850,176 MT of canola has been crushed, down from 2,447,073 for the same period last year. Soybean crush since the August 1 start of the 2001-02 marketing year totals 1,328,575 MT, up from the 1,307,737 MT crushed during the same period last year.
