Mixed Tone In Dry Beans

PANAMA - Apr 19/24 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading on a moderately mixed tone, reflecting a shift in thinking toward new crop.

This was reflected in the U.S. dry edible bean price index which inched 0.2 points higher the week to close at 120.8.

By contrast, the global pulse price index jumped 2.3 points higher during the week to finish at 121 and the Canadian index advanced 0.8 points to close 110.6.

Few Changes in Birdseeds

PANAMA - Apr 19/24 - SNS - Birdseed ingredient markets were little changed during the past week in seasonally light trading activity in both North American domestic and export markets.

There are indications reluctant grower selling interest for Canadian canaryseed is having an impact in both spot and new crop shipping positions.

There are reports some processors and exporters are finding it necessary to increase bid levels in an effort to entice farmers to sell.
