Lentils Nervous About India

PANAMA - Apr 16/24 - SNS -- Nervous sentiments remains in parts of the lentil market because of expectations of a major increase in green lentil output in North America and a possible reduction in demand from India.

Heading into India's kharif seeding period, that country's meteorological department is predicting this year's monsoon rainfall accumulations will be above normal.

Given the backdrop of relatively strong prices to farmers for tur or pigeon pea, there is some optimism land in the crop will increase this year.


Spain's Field Pea Imports Start On Firm Tone

PANAMA - Apr 16/24 - SNS -- Spain's imports of field peas in February posted major gains, advancing versus the previous month, according to data from Eurostat.

Total imports in the month amounted to 49,251 metric tons (MT), up 48% from the previous month's total of 33,242. So far imports have amounted to 82,493 MT, up from 9,225 during the previous calendar year.

The number one export origin during the month was Latvia, selling 33,543 MT. Russia was the second most important shipper selling 13,703 MT, followed by France at 1,687 MT.
