Portland Weekly Grain Review Part 2
Pacific Northwest Add Weekly Grain Summary

   Cash Soft White Wheat - Pacific Northwest:  Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, 
delivered by unit trains and barges to Portland during May ended the reporting week 
on Thursday, May 29, at 6.9750-7.40, mostly 7.20.  Bids were 10 to 26.75 cents per 
bushel lower than last Thursday's bids for May delivery of 7.2425-7.50, mostly 
7.3450.  White club wheat premiums for this week and last week were 30 to 50 cents, 
mostly 45 cents per bushel over soft white wheat bids.  One year ago bids for US 1 
Soft White Wheat and white club wheat delivered by unit trains and barges to 
Portland for May delivery were 7.65-7.8775, mostly 7.7650 Nearby bids for US 1 Soft 
White wheat began the holiday shortened reporting week on Friday at mostly 7.2925 
then moved lower to mostly 7.24 on Tuesday and on Wednesday moved slightly higher 
to mostly 7.2425.  Today (Thursday), bids moved to the weekly low of mostly 7.20.  
Lower Chicago July soft red winter wheat futures each day of the week pressured 
soft white wheat bids.  Some exporters were not issuing bids for nearby delivery.  
New confirmed export sales of white wheat this week were limited to Japan.  Forward 
month bids for soft white wheat were as follows:  June 7.0750-7.40, July 6.9050-
7.1250, August New Crop 6.9950-7.1250 and September 7.0450-7.1250.  One year ago, 
forward month bids for soft white wheat were as follows:  June 7.75-7.9275, July 
7.6775-7.8775, August New Crop and September were 7.6625-7.7625.

***Outstanding Export Sales:  Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of May 
22, 2014 for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2013 and ending May 31, 2014, 
totaled 327.1 thousand MT compared to 466.1 thousand MT on May 15, 2014, and 123.0 
thousand MT one year ago.  Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2013-2014 
marketing year were to the following countries in 1000 MT:  South Korea 102.7, 
Japan 76.4, Philippines 71.6, Thailand 20.0, Indonesia 15.0, Guatemala 11.3, 
Nigeria 7.1, Malaysia 1.3, Burma 1.0, Canada 0.7, and total unknown 20.0.  
Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of May 22, 2014, in 1000 MT for the 
2013-2014 marketing year, totaled 4,239.8 compared to 4,566.0 one year ago.  
Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales for the marketing year beginning June 1, 
2014 and ending May 31, 2015, in 1000 MT, totaled 774.1 and were to the following 
countries:  South Korea 143.1, Philippines 114.6, Japan 77.2, Taiwan 27.1,  
Guatemala 25.6, Malaysia 20.0, El Salvador 12.7, Vietnam 6.0, Peru 5.0, Thailand 
1.2, Burma 1.0, Hong Kong 0.8, and total unknown 339.8.***

***Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of May 22, 2014 for the marketing year 
beginning June 1, 2013 and ending May 31, 2014, in 1000 MT, totaled 4.0 compared to 
4.5 on May 15, 2014 and 2.6 one year ago.  Outstanding barley export sales for the 
2013-2014 marketing year in 1000 MT were to the following countries in 1000 MT:  
Japan 2.9, South Korea 0.9, and Taiwan 0.2.  Accumulated barley export shipments as 
of May 22, 2014 were 173.1 thousand MT compared to 132.6 one year ago.  Outstanding 
U.S. barley export sales for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2014 and ending 
May 31, 2015, in 1000 MT, totaled 5.1 and were to the following countries:  Japan 
2.4, Taiwan 2.5 and Philippines 0.2.***

   Coarse feeding grains:  Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in 
single rail cars were not available.  Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to 
the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Washington, and Hermiston, Oregon were also not 
available.  Bids for US 2 Heavy White Oats for May delivery were 280.00, steady 
with last Thursday's noon bids.
