PANAMA - Sep 15/23 - SNS -- International field pea markets closed the week's trading with a firmer undertone, helped by confirmation of reduced output in North America.
Canada's harvest was pegged at 2.27 million metric tons (MT) from 3.04 million acres, down from 3.42 million from 3.37 million acres last year. It is worth noting that provincial agriculture departments remain confident yields will exceed Statistics Canada's model based estimates.
By contrast, the USDA said output there increased from 682,900 to 783,200 MT on increased plantings and higher average yields in Montana and the Pacific northwest.
