Beans Relatively Steady

PANAMA - May 26/23 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets were relatively steady on the week, with little price movement reported for most origins.

This was reflected in the U.S. dry edible bean price index, which eased 0.2 points during the week to finish at 101.2.

Seeding of the North American crop continued to lag the recent five year average as the week got underway, but progress was almost double last year with 15% of all classes of beans and chickpeas in the ground, versus 7% last year and the recent average of 25%.
