Birdseeds Reveal Easier Undertone
PANAMA - May 26/23 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredient markets finished the week's trading unchanged to easier, with markets becoming more confident about overall seeding progress in Canada and the United States.
Canadian canaryseed markets were mostly unchanged in both grower and export markets. By contrast, white proso millet and sunflower showed underlying weakness as market thinking moves away from spot to deferred shipping positions.
Some market participants are paying attention to nigerseed output in India. In its third advance estimate for the 2022-23 production cycle, India's agriculture department pegged output at 27,000 MT, down from 33,000 last year and the previous five year average of 46,000.
