Mustard Slightly Firmer On The Week

PANAMA - May 12/23 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets were unchanged to firmer in the past week as processors and exporters worked to cover immediate shipping requirements at a time when farmers are busy with spring seeding activity.

As the week got underway, an estimated 6% of Saskatchewan's area was in the ground. Alberta does not report on seeding or harvest progress for mustard seed, but judging from other crops, it is possible 10% of this years intended area is in the ground

This suggests 7% of the originally intended mustard seed area is now in the ground, representing 44,000 acres of all classes, assuming farmers did not significantly increase area beyond what they intended in December of 2022.
