Mustard Mixed On The Week

PANAMA - Apr 21/23 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets finished the week's trading on a mixed note, with several processors and exporters withdrawing bids to farmers in both spot and new crop shipping positions.

The upper level of prices offered to growers was unchanged on the week for brown and yellow, but declined 5% for No 1 grade farmers dressed oriental mustard seed delivered western Canadian processing plants.

The implication is processors and exporters are reasonably well covered for short term and prospective needs. At the same time, the need to raise values in order to create grower selling interest suggests farmers are growing concerned over spring seeding conditions.
