Beans Mainly Sideways

PANAMA - Mar 3/23 - SNS -- International dry edible bean markets finished the week's trading little changed in seasonally light trading activity.

As a result, the U.S. dry edible bean price index inched up 0.1 points on the week to close at 100.8. Stronger gains were posted in other markets. Consequently, the global pulse price index gained 1.1 points to close at 102 while the Canadian index advanced 1.4 points to finish at 101.7.

North American markets remain influenced by relatively large inventories of some classes of beans. The December 31 stocks survey by the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute at North Dakota State University found commercial inventories of pinto and navy beans were up significantly over last year, while black bean stocks posted a smaller increase.
