Mustard Unchanged But Uneasy

PANAMA - Jan 15/23 - SNS -- Mustard seed markets finished the week unchanged in seasonally light trade, though participants were surprised by the USDA's final production estimate for 2022.

It pegged output at almost 46,000 metric tons (MT) from 221,000 acres, compared to just 19,900 MT from 103,000 acres last year.

Interestingly, farmers only registered 191,340 acres with the FSA for coverage under the U.S. crop support programs, leading some to believe the NASS numbers are higher than ought to be the case.
