Spot Mustard Firm, Unease In New Crop

PANAMA - Jan 6/23 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets were unchanged to firmer in spot shipping positions, though some uneasiness is emerging over the size of this year's increase in seeded area.

Processors and exporters are convinced there will be a substantial increase in plantings in Canada and possibly the United States.

Growers are encouraged by the combination of solid prices and movement. Interestingly, so far this season, average bids to oriental mustard seed growers are at record levels, while average bids for brown and yellow and below last season's average.
