lentils Hold Firm Before Canada Report

PANAMA - Nov 25/22 - SNS -- North American lentil markets maintained their firm tone in a holiday shortened trading week.

Attention is now shifting to Canada's final crop report for 2022. Due on December 2, markets are unsure if yields will be lower than Statistics Canada's September forecast, closer to subsequent estimates from provincial governments.

There is a wide difference between the two sets of data, with Statistics Canada's model based approach reckoning output could approach 2.78 million metric tons (MT) from 4.32 million acres, while provincial data suggests output could be closer to 2.47 million. In both cases, output would be well above last year';s drought reduced harvest of 1.606 million MT.
