Birdseeds Remain Mixed

PANAMA - Nov 18/22 - SNS -- North American birdseed ingredients maintained their mixed tone during the past week, with Canadian markets finishing firmer while those in the United States were unchanged to easier.

Canaryseed markets continue to be influenced by a tough attitude among growers to selling this year's harvest, helped by assertions by some market participants that the final production estimate will not meet Statistics Canada's September forecasts. White proso millet and confection sunflower markets were largely unchanged on the week, while oil type continued to show some weakness.

Commenting on the situation, the U.S. based National Sunflower Association (NSA) noted that though spot markets were largely unchanged on the week "prices continue to trade 70 to 80 cents per cwt. lower than the 60-day moving average at the ND crush plants. 2023 new crop was unchanged to up 25 cents.
