Sugarcane Harvest Up 4%
WASHINGTON - Oct 12/22 - SNS -- Production of sugarcane for sugar and seed is forecast at 34.2 million tons, up 1% from the previous forecast and up 4% from last season according to the latest USDA estimates.
Producers intend to harvest 920,500 acres for sugar and seed during the 2022 crop year, up slightly from last month but down 2% from 2021. Yields for sugar and seed are expected to average 37.1 tons per acre, up 0.2 ton from last month and up 2.0 tons from last season.
