Beans Maintain Easier Undertone

PANAMA - Sep 23/22 - SNS -- Dry edible bean markets were modestly easier on the week as the North American harvest continued to make progress.

As the week got underway an estimated 28% of the U.S. crop was in the bin, compared to 51% last year and the recent average of 46%. Based on USDA production estimates, roughly 319,000 metric ons (MT) of bean and chickpeas were in the bin as the week got underway, down from over 544,000 MT last year and the average of 567,300.

This was a factor in the 0.6 point decline in the U.S. dry edible bean price index during the week, closing at 104.2. By contrast, the global pulse price index was unchanged, ending the week at 94.2 while the Canadian index fell 0.6 points to 96.4.
