Mustard Holds Firm

PANAMA - Sep 16/22 - SNS -- North American mustard seed markets maintained their firm tone through the [past week despite confirmation of a major increase in Canadian output.

Statistics Canada's last model based crop estimate of the season suggested output will approach 177,000 metric ons (MT), compared to just 69,300 last year.

It is important to note that Saskatchewan Agriculture's yield estimates were significantly higher than the official estimate at 1,102 pounds per acre, compared to Statistics Canada's 686 pound forecast. The provincial forecast is based on reports crop reporters around the province. If accurate, the harvest would be closer to 230,000 MT.
