U.S. Mustard Area Jumps 19%

WASHINGTON - Jun 30/22 - SNS -- Growers in the United States planted an estimated 123,000 acres of mustard seed this year, up 19% from last year, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2022.

Mustard seed area for harvest is forecast at 115,000 acres, up 29% from the previous year. Planted and harvested area will both be the second highest area on record for the Nation, if realized.

Acreage planted to rapeseed is estimated at 9,000 acres, down 5,300 acres from 2021 and represents the lowest since 2018. Harvested rapeseed area is forecast at 8,200 acres, down 4,300 acres from last year.
