U.S. Rye Plantings Advance 2%

WASHINGTON - Jun 30/22 - SNS -- The 2022 planted area for rye is estimated at 2.17 million acres, up by 2% from 2021, according to the USDA's seeded area estimates for 2022.

Harvested area is expected to total 345,000 acres, up 17% from last year. In Oklahoma, 52% of the rye acreage was harvested by June 19, seventeen percentage points ahead of the previous year's pace, but 2 percentage points behind the 5-year pace. Pennsylvania is expecting a record high planted area.
