Peas Inch Toward New Crop

PANAMA - Jun 24/22 - SNS -- North American field pea markets finished the week's trading on a generally easier note as markets make the transition toward new crop.

Seeding is complete, but crops are somewhat delayed in Saskatchewan because of this year's seeding delays, with the provincial agriculture department saying last week that 34% of all pulses were behind their normal stage of development.

However, recent rains in several parts of the growing area has increased optimism yields will be at least average this year, with the potential to be better than average in parts of the growing area.
