Peas Record Mixed Tendency

PANAMA - Jun 17/22 - SNS -- Field pea markets finished the week's trading on a mixed note over doubts about production levels in parts of the growing area and uncertainty over the actual seeded area.

There is more confidence in Canada over the yield potential of the crop, with some market participants expecting yields to be somewhat higher than their recent five year average; wile their counterparts in the United States remain concerned about conditions in some areas.

The net result is if growers planted as many peas as intended, it is hard to imagine the harvest dropping under the current combined forecast of 4.112 million metric tons (MT) for the United States and Canada, up significantly from last year's 2.648 million MT.
